Reason why they can’t show ill effects? They have failed to do the proper studies! Check this out!
Book reports on other book reports, are not going to tell us why thousands of people are getting sick from wind turbines which are placed in close proximity to their homes. They are all afraid to study the real people. It is painfully obvious, that the wind industry, and government, do not want to be held accountable for the damage they are doing. I believe it will soon come out, that they have known that they are causing harm, to a non-trivial percentage of the population, so they’ve made every possible effort to discredit their victims. Not a new tactic, but none the less, disgusting. I have seen documents that were released through the Freedom of information act, showing that they knew, but chose to ignore, and cover it up. Prison time is in order for these miscreants!
Only the ones complicit in the scam, have not admitted, that it is a complete waste of time and money!
Wind energy is completely unaffordable, and does not cut CO2 emissions…..Who knew??? We all did!!!! Now the smarter politicians are waking up to the truth…..finally!
The streets of Venice are frozen. The heat did it???

Global warming alarmists had to start calling it “climate change”, because it sure as hell isn’t warming! LOL!

Poland is now fighting the destruction of their country, by the windweasels
FIGHTING AGAINST WINDMILLS
Wiesława Lewandowska talks with Anna Zalewska about the vague policy of the government concerning the future of renewable energy in Poland, big money, old wind turbines and growing protests
WIESŁAWA LEWANDOWSKA: – You are fighting against windmills like Don Kichot, aren’t you?
ANNA ZALEWSKA: – I am fighting against windmills, but I am not the novelistic hero, who is inefficient and is imagining everything all the time. I have 7 years of experience in this fight and a suitable professional knowledge (post-graduate studies in environment protection), I have organized over 120 meetings in Poland, in towns where there were protests connected with localizing wind turbines there.
– Can it be said that you are a coordinator of this civilian protest?
– I only considered people, whose life conditions were drastically hindered, so that they would not be helpless and would unite together in associations being a party in a conflict with the extremely strong lobby o windmill, and they would take advantage of specialists’ help. The nationwide association has already been established which, within the so-called social consultations must be informed about the actions of the government in this issue.
– And these actions are rather bland for some strange reasons….
– The strategic Act about the renewable sources of energy has been postponed in time for two years (it was to be obliging already in January 2013!). The Ministry of Economy responsible for it, announces every month that next month the Act will be presented. However, it is not all about….It can be supposed that it is under the pressure of the lobbyists who are aiming at having wind-powered energetics more subsidized.
– Or, maybe the government thinks that it is the wind-powered energetics which should dominate all other sources of the renewable energy in Poland, which will provide us with the so-called energetic mix required by the EU?
– In my opinion no conception of the Polish government is visible in this issue. Instead, aggressive actions of lobbyists of wind-powered companies are visible. For example, there were ‘consultations’ in Sheraton, to which companies invited the representatives of the Ministry of Economy and deputies. Whereas, I did not hear that during the last years any discussions on this issue had taken place in the governmental forum. As if nobody cared about the logical arranging provisions.
– As it seems, the wind-powered lobby is also running a very intensive ‘promotion campaign’ in the area….
– That is true. This lobby is very rich, pays big money for legal opinions, for preparing statements of claim against those inhabitants of communes who ‘did not allow for achieving stipulated income’ by wind-powered companies. Intimidation is used and a very hypocritical promotion of wind-powered farms is run. Wind-powered companies are reaching to self-governors in various ways; all opinions of local councils are written only with the language of lobbyists.
– Not with the language of the policy of the government?
– No! Neglect of the government favors lobbyists. The government did not order to do any investigations, no research center is working to define what mix of renewable energy is useful and possible in Polish conditions. In the media space there are expertise paid by lobbyists, praising Poland as a country perfect for the development of the wind-powered energetics.
– Poland was evaluated as the 10th most suitable place in the world for placement of projects from wind-powered energetics (Ernst&Young)!
– Indeed, there are this kind of expertise and they are convenient for the extremely developed sector of wind-powered energetics in the EU. There is a belief in the West that wind-powered energy is not cheaper or effective at all. Many countries are rejecting it and, as a result, Poland is simply becoming an outlet market for devices which have already been amortized there. In addition, also in Western Europe there are more and more protests against the toxicity of wind-powered companies.
– Why is not wind-powered energetics good for us? Why are people protesting?
– It concerns a discomfort of living near a wind-powered turbine (noise, ultrasound).Whereas lobbyists in Poland are mocking at the fact that a vacuum cleaner or a baby’s cry are more harmful….And some scientists issue expertise about non-harmfulness, holding posts in supervision councils of wind-powered companies! The simple Act of the Law and Justice party – the project of novelization of building law and an Act about space planning and management, submitted in Sejm in summer 2012, and in the beginning of 2014 submitted to another consideration in Sejm commissions – distances wind power stations from people’s habitats by 3 km.
– It will completely exclude wind-powered energetics – say its supporters.
– It is not true. Similar standards are obliging in other countries which are even starting to use safer , the so-called micro-installations (turbines of power to 40 KW). This should be mentioned also by the Polish Act about the renewable sources of energy, unfortunately, it does not exist for unknown reasons…
– The present protests against big wind-powered turbines do not have to mean exclusion of ecological wind-powered energetics….
– Certainly, they don’t! Firstly – big wind-powered farms have nothing in common with ecology. And, secondly – in the perspective of the nearest 7 years we have 60 milliard zlotys to spend on renewable energy (from the so-called cohesive funds. Agreeing to big wind-powered farms, we cause a situation that most of this amount will return to the countries of the old fifteen as a payment for unwanted windmills there. Poland needs a completely new technology and provisions allowing inhabitants to use structural funds, and all this to make it possible for them to develop renewable energy themselves, for example, by installing small wind turbines or solar batteries and also…..liquidating roofs of asbestos cement harmful for health. Unfortunately, the Act about the Renewable Energy Sources prepared, by the government, does not stipulate preference for small installations. On the contrary, the system of auction is suggested, which means that biggest investors from other countries, not Poland, will win. However, it is even difficult to dispute with this idea because it has not been submitted to any constructive debate. It looks as if the government did not care about it….
– Apparently experts stated that in Poland there are good climatic conditions for development of wind-powered energetics.
– It is often said by specialists who are often related to interests of wind-powered companies, and we can simply look at the opinions of meteorologists in order to find out that in Poland it is windy for only one-third of a year and, not necessarily according to parameters required in wind-powered energetics. Today in Rymanów other propellers are breaking off…. We do not have such conditions, unlike in Germany or Denmark – nor we have windy or distance conditions. Poland is a country which is quite evenly populated, there are not enough uninhabited spaces.
– Why can wind turbines appear in nearly every place?
– And even in the most beautiful landscapes (Warmia, Mazury and Bieszczady!) We urgently need a definite policy of the country. Whereas our ministries avoid these restrictions which are obliging in EU countries: in our country everyone is allowed to put up a windmill even on his own yard!
– Maybe it is a way for meeting the EU commitments – 15 per cent of energy from renewable sources to 2020? Maybe it is the reason why the government is doing nothing in order to refrain this uncontrolled development?
– And maybe because it declared in its energetic policy even 19.9 percent from the Act of the Renewable Energy Sources, as befits an EU primus…?
Whereas, it is worth thinking about how these today’s big wind investments will be co-funded after the year 2020. Looking into the energetic future of Poland, it would be necessary to choose such solutions – I have spoken about it for 6 years – which would not cause social conflicts, would not devastate the landscape, would not deplete the acreage of good farmland (which the Agriculture Ministry is thoughtlessly subordinates to de-farming). And, finally, in order to prevent piles of scrap from accumulating with which owners of parcels will have to cope one day, when signing contracts with companies about placement of windmills.
– Despite the protests, as Poland is long and wide, there is a rumour from communes that wind-powered farms are, first of all, a golden interest.
– Indeed, lobbyists of wind-powered companies are already in every Polish commune. They waste money on various events, a piece of a road, pavement – until they gain required localizations. And they do not find it difficult to convince people of signing contracts for leasing an area, especially, when they are successful – one can even suspect corruption here – gain the favour of a mayor, commune councilors, who ignore civilian objections. Protesters are considered as eco-terrorists in these communes, but these are only people fighting for their patrimony, who will not allow for being bribed by others; one of associations in Kaszuby was offered a million zlotys for withdrawing from the protest!
– Is leasing an area to the wind-powered company is really very beneficial?
– Lobbyists show only benefits – approximately 2 thousand zlotys monthly for lease – and people do not pay attention to the fact that they sign a contract full of stars, various kinds of unclear statements, do not secure themselves against the bankruptcy of the company and they do not know that they will be get their pay, depending on what will be blowing….They often do not know that, according to the criminal and civil law, as owners of a land they will be responsible for what may happen, for example, a broken off propeller will cause devastation and an accident will happen.
– However, it is not easy today to convince them that it is not the best interest…
– That is true. Those who feel deceived often come to me because in their village there were to be 50 contracts but it turned out that there will be only 3 of them…They do not understand that in one place it is impossible to put up even 50 windmills. And, what is worse, they do not understand that the whole village will have a problem because of them, that people will be moving out until tourists will stop coming here even because of these 3 windmills. In such a region we cannot say about agro-tourism.
– What benefit will communes have?
– Rather not much. It turns out that it is not the best interest also for communes, for example, communes in Warmia and Mazury, where a dozen windmills were located, compensation grant was taken away and they hardly managed to come out of problems, and, anyway, they reached only about 100 thousand zlotys of the income…In Kobylnica (in Pomerania) and in Margonin (in Greater Poland), where gigantic wind-powered farms appeared, people are leaving their habitats, they are trying to sell them, but for a song….
Today it is a nationwide problem, which comprises 500 municipalities and concerns about 2.5 million people. Lobbyists, however, are unremitting, and know very well that Poland is a real Eldorado for them with its legislative chaos.
– Why is the Law and Justice party so definitely against wind-powered energetics, if – as political competitors remind – in the electoral program of 2005 the party opts for promoting and using the renewable sources of energy in Poland?
– I say again: we have never been and we are not against wind-powered energetics. I also remind that the Act about the promotion of renewable energy in Poland was implemented during the cadency of the Leftist Democratic Alliance, in autumn 2005. And, then, for a year and a half of the cadency of the Law and Justice party, the problem of wind-powered energy did not exist, and there was not any discussions on this issue! Today we think that Poland should arrange this energetic mix required by the EU on its own, according to its own interest. It is very essential that in the age of crisis, EU countries started returning to carbon energetics; high-energetic boilers, security and technologies are considered, which allow for capturing and transforming harmful substances. Wind-powered energy has already been recognized as too expensive. Whereas, in our country everything is the other way round. The Law and Justice party opposes to such an absurd and unclear policy of the government.
– However, the prime minister expressed his approval about the idea of the Law and Justice party concerning introducing restrictions of wind turbines localizations…Is it a good sign?
– I am afraid that it is connected not with a good will but with this year’s elections to the European Parliament and self-governments. Finally, it is all about support of about 2.5 million of protesting people who have been fighting for years with governmental and self-governmental clerks… It seems that both this approval of the prime minister and slowness of governmental works in this issue is just this electoral trap, promise that one day reasonable regulations will come.
– And won’t they come?
– They must come but rather not thanks to this government, but thanks to people fighting against windmills. It must be successful because Poles are not Donkichots.

Have I ever mentioned before, how much I love those Aussies?
The clever Aussies have now put together an intelligent, hardworking team, to slay the windweasels, and free their lands, from the scourge of the wind turbines. I couldn’t be more proud of our cousins!!! The RET is a ploy to suck the financial vibrancy out of every viable country, in the world. There are many people waking up to the fact, that this has nothing to do with our environment, and everything to do with pushing socialism. Agenda 21 is a weapon of mass destruction, and should be treated as such!

Last call boys….the lights are out, for the Aussie wind weasels!!
Anyone with the Facts….knows it’s a SCAM!

Robert Bryce….tells it like it is, and takes no windweasel prisoners!
Time to Chalk it up as a Hard Lesson learned….and Move On!

The clock is ticking, the sands are almost all in the bottom of the hourglass, no matter how you say it…..wind turbine scams, are coming to an end!

Computer models of climate change have been dead wrong, yet alarmists aim to quell debate.

I repeat: I’m not a global-warming believer. I’m not a global-warming denier. I’ve long believed that it cannot be good for humanity to be spewing tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. I also believe that those scientists who pretend to know exactly what this will cause in 20, 30, or 50 years are white-coated propagandists.
“The debate is settled,” asserted propagandist-in-chief Barack Obama in his latest State of the Union address. “Climate change is a fact.” Really? There is nothing more anti-scientific than the very idea that science is settled, static, impervious to challenge. Take a non-climate example. It was long assumed that mammograms help reduce breast cancer deaths. This fact was so settled that Obamacare requires every insurance plan to offer mammograms (for free, no less).
Now we learn from a massive randomized study — 90,000 women followed for 25 years — that mammograms may have no effect on breast-cancer deaths. Indeed, one out of five of of those diagnosed by mammogram receives unnecessary radiation, chemo, or surgery.
So much for settledness. And climate is less well understood than breast cancer. If climate science is settled, why do its predictions keep changing? And how is it that the great physicist Freeman Dyson, who did some climate research in the late 1970s, thinks today’s climate-change Cassandras are hopelessly mistaken? Read rest of article here.

Real people, who are not paid off by the windweasels, are fighting this scam….tooth and nail!!!
EU has no choice, but to abandon ridiculous Renewable Energy Targets..

No country or province, whose government is not disgustingly corrupt, will continue on with this scam, now that the truth about the wind industry is out there for all to see. It is a HUGE rip-off!
Seems like a little Aussie Detective work, has uncovered a stinking pile of windweasel dung!
http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/view.asp?article=16027&page=0
This article puts it all right there in black and white…..what we’ve known all along. The windweasels know they are making us sick, but they don’t care!!!! The most pathetic thing of all, is the way our Prov. Lib/NDP government, has assisted in the cover-up!

Australia set to scrap Renewable Energy Targets…..Woo Hoo!!!

Energy Policy Institute, all set to take an axe to the RET!
The Aussies have, once again, taken the lead, when it comes to putting the brakes on the corrupt wind industry! So Aussies!!!

Excellent letter, telling of the heartbreak of living with the torture from turbines!
February 12, 2014
To whom it may concern:
Lovely log home in the municipality of Grey Highlands; a beloved home surrounded by fields, meadows and trees.
Industrial wind turbines also surround the log home now.
“Can’t sleep. Welcome to HELL ONT.”
At least one neighbour living in very close proximity to the log house recently abandoned his home. He just walked away. It wasn’t an easy decision and the injustice of the situation forced upon him is not something he is likely to ever forget.
He just couldn’t keep up to a normal job and life because he was unable to sleep in his own home anymore.
No level of government, wind company or public health office took the devastation to his life seriously enough to do anything that would make a difference except to send platitudes and regrets that the problem belonged to everyone else to take care of, but not them. A number of others said there was nothing they could do about it. The one exception was the wind company who didn’t reply in any way at all.
No one was helping to put an end to the torment of living in a turbine-toxic home. Many across rural Ontario describe what happens to them after turbines start up as torture.
Neighbours in my own municipality and across Ontario are experiencing physical problems they seldom or never had to deal with before the turbines started up. Some of the problems are nosebleeds, heart palpitations, dizziness, pressure in the ears and head, headaches, nausea with vomiting and sleep deprivation.
I’ve met with and spoken to a number of people in Ontario in this situation. Some thought they were doing a good thing for the planet by putting turbines up. Others were excited to see the giant turbines become part of the landscape. Municipalities and farmers got in on some of the goldrush of lease money, taxes, grants and so-called community benefit funds from turbine companies, pushing away any information that might not fit in with the false idol of ‘plentiful’ and ‘free’ and ‘safe’ energy from the wind.
These unrealistic ideals have been planted and supported by the wind industry, environmental groups, media and an urban population that wants to believe that wind turbines and acres of solar panels will make a difference to the planet’s health. Urbanites who do even a small amount of research, any who take a small amount of time to work past the wind industry bafflegab, soon come to realize there is far more misinformation and profiteering than power production and planet saving going on.
And the number of lives and communities being ruined by this profiteering and green unrealistic ideology is nothing short of criminal.
I ask that you do no more than to put yourself into the shoes of the young man who was driven from his home in order to be able to function again after trying to cope with wind turbine noise (both audible and low frequency) for two years. He represents a large and growing number of people in rural Ontario. We will not forget what has been purposefully set upon us out here nor will we forget those who stand and speak up for common sense and the safety of our rural families and communities and for a viable future for this province.
Sincerely,
Lorrie Gillis

Fear of Fracking was purposely instilled into people, to get them to go along with over-priced, inefficient, renewables!
Fracking has gone on for years, with minimal damage to ANYTHING. The “Renewables
Industry uses this fear, to their own advantage. Don’t be fooled by their BS. Fracking is safer than Wind Turbines and solar panels, made with rare earth minerals from China.
Money is behind the scam, and we will not fall for it! A little bit of unbiased research, and you will find that fracking, is perfectly safe! Natural gas can be burned as cleanly, with modern technology, as wind or solar. That, is something, they do NOT want you to know!!!

Wind turbines, more proof of lack of Liberal R &
The West Lincoln Glambrook Wind Action Group has been fighting against wind turbines for years saying their interests are not being considered because the Liberal government has taken away powers at the local level leaving them unrepresented and vulnerable.
The result, many communities are unwilling hosts, but the turbines are built anyway.
Lots has been said about the distance or set back these turbines must be from residential buildings and property lines.
The action group says the current guidelines say the turbines must be back from properties lines at least the height of the turbine at its hub.
The Ministry of the Environment has measured, and three of the five turbines are in violation, against the wishes of the neighbouring properties.
The MOE says it will try to rectify the violation with the neighbours, which really means, we’ll write you a big cheque with taxpayer’s money to look the other way.
Whether you agree or disagree with the citizens, clearly there was not enough research done before these projects were started and there certainly isn’t any follow up inspection during construction or after the fact.
You think moving power plants was costly, wait ‘till we see what this Liberal screw up ends up costing us.
I’m Scott Thompson.
Listen to Scott talk to Tim Hudak regarding the West Lincoln wind turbines and wind energy in Ontario.
Residents demand wind permit
Grimsby Lincoln News Amanda Moore Febuary 12, 2014
WEST LINCOLN — A discovery by a West Lincoln property owner has stalled operation of industrial wind turbines in West Lincoln — for now.
A spokesperson for Ontario Environment Minister Jim Bradley confirmed via email Monday the ministry is aware that three of the five HAF Wind Energy turbines are in violation of setback requirements. While the turbines are 550 metres from the closest home, three do not meet property line setbacks established by the ministry.
“It appeared to the blind eye that they were too close to my property,” said Anne Meinen, a Beamsville resident who owns property in West Lincoln.
Meinen took her concerns to the West Lincoln Glanbrook Wind Action Group, which helped her determine the distance of the turbine from her property.
Group chairman Neil Switzer said the group used a range finder to establish the setback distances to ensure they didn’t encroach on the host property. They found four setback infractions, with the largest affecting Meinen’s property.
The 95-metre tower is 27 metres too close to her property. Meinen said the ministry’s allowance for the three turbines to be built is unacceptable.
“This is not a pro or con wind turbine issue,” said Meinen. “The issue is that somebody built something contrary to regulations and encroaching on my property lines … there are regulations regarding the setback distance from property lines for a reason, including ensuring my ability to enjoy my property, for my safety and the protection of my property values, amongst others. For this turbine to be constructed where it was, is completely unacceptable and I await word from (the ministry) on what they plan to do about it.”

What Provides Permanent Happiness?
Helping others, is helping yourself, but feels even better!

There are three levels of happiness. Most people spend a lifetime chasing the first two levels of happiness and completely miss the third level – the one that lasts a life time.
The three levels of happiness:
1. Pleasure – This is the lowest level of happiness because it has the shortest life span. And even though pleasure is the most temporary form of happiness, it is the one that we spend much of our lives focusing on. We go to movies to be entertained for two hours. We have a glass of wine or two because it makes us happy for a few hours. We attend a concert to experience the high of listening to live…

Fighting the Wind Turbine Pushers, is not only the right thing to do! It’s the ONLY thing to do….
For the sake of our families, our homes, our communities, and our province, we must fight the destruction being done by the windweasels. They are the cause of health problems, including stress, and sleeplessness, they greatly devalue property values, and they are causing energy bills to skyrocket, which in turn, causes all other prices to rise, as well as chasing away jobs. This is a travesty, and must be stopped. It is not just us, here in Ontario. People all over the world, are also fighting this scam!

“Climate Scientists”….who ignore climate!! When will they admit defeat?

Because of all the money invested in the global warming/climate change scam, some people are having a hard time, letting go of their dream! The earth is doing what it has always done. CO2 is just a blip on the radar screen. Not the catastrophe, they would like us to believe. Sorry, we know it’s a money grab, and we won’t be needing your useless faux green “renewable” unreliable energy sources either. We will reduce pollution in an affordable, and sensible way, that really does something to help our environment. Not just robs people, and makes them “think” something is being done. In most areas, the wind turbines produce electricity in minute quantities, compared to other sources, and generally when it is not needed. They also cost a lot more than they could ever be worth. You can not count on them, without 100% back-up generation, for those frequent times, when the wind blows to hard, or too softly. What a farce! The rare earth minerals that go into making wind turbines and solar panels, are creating terrible toxic pollution, but the faux-green wind weasels, simply ignore this fact. Easy, when it is taking place, halfway around the world. But don’t forget, what comes around, goes around, and the wind doth blow, in more than one direction!
Excellent Post by, “The Big Green Lie”! We are being robbed! via our electricity bills!

Well Chuck…..all bets are off. You are no longer acting like a royal, and therefore, we feel no reason to treat you with the respect you might otherwise have garnered. You have entered, head first, into the dirty, muddied waters of politics, and it is every chicken for himself out here. You are just one of the headless chickens now, and fear mongering, is part of your game. No true Royal, would stoop so low. No wonder Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, wants to live forever, and keep you away from the throne. You didn’t know your place Charlie, and now, you’re just one of us.

As Investments Turn Sour, Wind Energy Sector in Germany Begins to Crumble in Wake of Solar Industry Collapse
By P Gosselin on 4. February 2014
German alarmist site klimaretter.de here reports on the latest negative developments now hitting Germany’s wind power industry. The latest to be hit is wind-turbine transmission manufacturer Bosch Rexroth AG, which announced it will slash 210 jobs and give up a production plant in Nuremberg.
Image cropped from: www.youtube.com/kGXoE3RFZ8
Klimaretter writes that the reason behind the move is “the changing wind market“, which according to Bosch-Rexroth spokesperson has seen immense fluctuations.
Because 2013 saw 10 gigawatts less wind energy power installed than a year earlier, ‘capacities have to be scaled back’.”
The layoffs come on the heels of Bavaria’s move to restrict the installation of wind parks in its idyllic countryside. However, the company claims that Bavaria’s policy had no impact on the decision.
Bosch Rexroth is just the latest in a series of setbacks the wind energy industry has seen over the last months. Germany’s solar industry has already collapsed and wind energy is just the latest victim in Germany’s rollback of renewable energies. Spiegel here writes that Germany’s solar industry has shedded half its jobs in the last two years alone!

Dear Sarah, Dear Agatha,Regarding the NRWC wind project that is posted on the Environmental Registry, I am still waiting for the 2013 field notes to be posted online by NRWC, as requested in my email of January 3rd (below). Can you please tell me when we can expect to have these notes posted on the web? We only have 8 days left to submit comments to the Environmental Registry. We are seeking an extension for the comment period because these notes have not been made available to the public. If your intention is not to provide the complete set of field notes that are related to this REA application, please explain why these are not provided to the public for review.Thank-you,Loretta Shields, Niagara Peninsula Field Naturalists memberDate: Fri, Jan 3, 2014 at 2:46 PM
Subject: Fwd: NRWC project – Field notes not posted online for several natural feature habitats
To: sarah.raetsen@ontario.ca, agatha.garciawright@ontario.caDear Sarah, Dear Agatha,I sent you the email below on December 18th. I haven’t seen a reply back yet, so I thought I would resend the email to you. I have been reviewing the NRWC Natural Heritage Assessment report, and there are several field notes that are missing from the NRWC REA documents that are posted on their website. These include the migratory bird field notes, bat maternity habitat assessment forms, stick nest search survey forms, winter raptor roost surveys, amphibian habitat surveys, and surveys conducted for turtle/snake habitats. Also, it is our understanding from reading the NHA report that supplemental surveys were conducted in 2013. These field notes are also missing from the website. For a proper consultation with the public, it is imperative that we have these documents for review. Only 28 days remain until the comment period under the Environmental Registry remain. Please provide us with these documents as soon as possible, and please consider an extension of 180 days to this review period to allow for the proper consultation that is required for a project of this magnitude.Thank-you for your consideration and time,Loretta ShieldsDate: Wed, Dec 18, 2013 at 8:01 AM

Heartbreaking Letter, from Someone who Learned the Truth about Turbines….the Hard Way!
Wind Turbine Meeting Notes……May 28, 2013 Boone County Zoning Meeting
My name is Ted Hartke. I am a professional engineer and professional land surveyor, and I own Hartke
Engineering and Surveying, Inc. My dad, Phil, and my brother, Dave, are both farmers. As a land surveyor, I
know how emotional and protective people are about their land and the rights they have to get the most
out of their property. This wind farm issue is very difficult to deal with, and I have an important story to tell
you.
I live in the center of the InvEnergy California Ridge wind farm located in Vermilion County, Illinois,
consisting of 138 turbines rated at 1.6 megawatts each and being 495 feet tall.
Before our project started, and throughout its construction, I had no issues with my county’s decision to
create our existing wind industry ordinance including all of the details within it regarding setbacks or other
matters. I did not know or worry about noise pollution. There had been some negativity about noise, so
during the summer of 2011, I parked under a wind turbine near Bloomington Illinois on our way to Phillip’s
church camp. I turned off the car, and myself, my wife, and my kids all got out to walk around and look at
things. I could hear light wispy air “whooshing” sounds. I could hear a tractor in a field a mile away and
also birds chirping about as loud as the blades’ air disturbance. I thought I had very little to worry about
the noise from turbines about to be constructed near my home in Vermilion County.
We managed to get through the dust, traffic, construction noise while our road was reconstructed in front
of our property. It was exciting to see the huge turbine components hauled past our house. For me, things
were friendly between me, the construction crews, and the wind farm representatives. Everything was
“just fine.” We thought we had lived through the worst part of the project.
In January, our noise problem began. We had a couple bad nights of engine whining noise. We thought we
might get used to it….sort of like people become accustomed to living near busy highways or train tracks.
However, our noise was lasting all night long, kids were waking up numerous times every night. It was
totally unexpected….a complete shock. We were unaware of how the noise was going to change our lives.
I have personal first-hand knowledge of and expert witness testimony as follows:
1.) Wind turbines will wake you up at various times. It is impossible to get healthy sleep.
2.) The engine “whining” or “humming” noise is very disturbing and stressful. This low frequency noise
penetrates your house, and there is no place where you can go inside your house to escape it. (OUTSIDE your house, the noise doesn’t seem so bad. INSIDE your house, the noise is
unbelievable.)
3.) There were mornings when I put clothes on my kids and shoved them out the front door when they
were sleep deprived and not ready for a full day of school. Wind turbines are hard on your
children.
4.) Our son already had a pre-existing sleep problem and we have been seeing a specialist for ~ 2
years now. Up until the turbines went live, Phillip’s symptoms had been improving dramatically
and in early January at his last check up with the specialist we had discussed weaning him off his
sleep meds. Since the turbines turned on in January, Phillip’s symptoms have been gradually
returning/becoming worse. Since the developer will not turn the turbines off at night anymore,we had a very bad noise event at our home on May 11. This was the first time Phillip
complained of dizziness from the noise. Later in the evening he started vomiting. It was a really
miserable night for the entire family.
The Dr. made some suggestions to help cut down on the noise (special ear plugs) and to cut
down on the vibrations caused by low-frequency sound (shock absorbers under the legs of his
bed). He also increased the dosage of a medication our son was already taking due to his sleep
disorder in the hopes that this would allow Phillip to have greater periods of uninterrupted
sleep.
5.) I have argued with my wife at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30 in the morning. Wind turbines are hard on
your marriage.
6.) Being exhausted severely impacts your work performance and stresses relationships with
employees and co-workers. Wind turbines are hard on your careers.
7.) I have embarrassed myself and have cried in front of my peers while describing the insurmountable
problem my family is experiencing with this noise. Wind turbines are hard on your public image.
8.) Standing up and requesting assistance to solve this problem required me to put pressure on my
county board representatives. My ties with community leaders have been severed….hurting my
small business. Just like any other person, I had to put my family first, and I put my business at
great risk while going up against neighbors, public officials, fellow citizens, and construction
companies who hire my firm to do engineering and survey work. I decided to come up to your
community tonight because I feel a heavy burden and responsibility to other men, women, and
children who will suffer from future wind turbine placement.
9.) Between January and May, I was able to convince InvEnergy to shut down turbines approximately
50 times during nighttime noise events. During that time, I contacted contractors and researched
ways to soundproof my home. I was rejected by several contractors who did not believe they could
fix my problem. Soundproofing against low frequency noise is extremely difficult. My home had
too many large windows, a fireplace flue, 5 dormers, vaulted ceilings in the living room and upstairs
bedrooms. On Saturday, May 11th, my request to turn off one of these turbines was declined. We
were awake all night with high levels of wind turbine noise. We cannot live this way. This wind
turbine noise is torture……torture is what you do to terrorists, not my children!
10.)I have researched and studied soundproofing improvements to my home. To get some relief from
soundproofing, it will require new windows, doors, exterior sheeting, wall insulation, and roofing
insulation. To get the insulation completed will require removal of existing windows, siding,
sheeting, and a build-up of roofing materials. The approximate cost to soundproof my home in this
manner is $150,000.
11.)My wife and I were very stressed and needed help….we decided that this horrible noise should be
documented and reported because of the upcoming discussions for the county board and also to
build records to justify our soundproofing repairs with InvEnergy. A Vermilion County Sheriff’s
Deputy was at my house, in my bedroom, to listen to the noise at 2 AM. Our Mother’s Day holiday
was ruined.
12.)I emailed the entire county board an open invitation to come to my home, spend time inside my
bedroom where I sleep. They have declined to address my problem. Unfortunately, this noise
problem will grow and affect more Vermilion County citizens as more turbines are constructed. Foras long as you allow wind turbines to be constructed within 2,500 feet of homes, you will have
noise complaints from neighbors. You will become a target of controversy, complaints, political
challenges, hatred, and lawsuits.
13.)It is not too late for your community to create an ordinance that protects you from the trouble I am
living through.
In conclusion:
I am requesting that, before you vote on this, think about the resident like me who will invite you to
stand in their bedroom to listen to the noise. While you are there, he or she will introduce you to their
precious children. You will have the opportunity to sit down and discuss with the kids about how it
makes them feel. While there are few things worse than a sick or injured child, I believe that hurting
them by allowing wind turbines to be constructed too close to their homes is unforgivable.
If you still want to proceed with allowing wind farm development under this weak ordinance, then
maybe you should think about how stressed you will be when your names are listed on the lawsuit for
voting in support of the inadequate setbacks and no way to enforce noise violations. Now is your
opportunity to stop and think about it. If a wind farm chooses not to enter your county based on noise
restrictions, then you know that they do not have the capability to fulfill their “good neighbor” promise.
Put your noise restriction in writing and include a corrective action to address it such as night-time
turbine shutdown upon a legit noise complaint.
Don’t be afraid to change your mind. When I have said “no” to my kids, my employees, my clients, and
my family, they went through a short period of unhappiness, but I always wanted to do what was fair to
everyone involved and still be able to provide for them. You will earn my respect and the respect of
wind company representatives…..they may not like it, but they will respect it. It is OK to change your
mind in the course of exploring all of the avenues and throughout the presentation of facts. Opening
the door to the first wind farm development is like selling the business or the home farm…….you only
get one chance at doing it right. Try to learn from other’s mistakes and make adjustments accordingly.
Learning from your own mistakes is a harder way to go about it.
When you became a board member, I hope it was to serve your community. If you are seated at this
table, and your interests are about self-preservation for you and your friends, then you are in the
wrong room.
Although my five minute time allowance is up, I would be pleased to give you more detailed feedback
and information so that you may make the best possible decisions.
Thank you for allowing me to speak to you tonight. I hope that sharing my experience helps your
community.
DIRECT health effects, from Wind turbines, and Substations!
A shocking story: Stray voltage victim wins $4 million against utility
Credit: California woman shocked in shower by voltage from substation wins landmark case; Stray voltage complaints, health concerns mount in East County | By Miriam Raftery | April 16, 2013 | East County Magazine | eastcountymagazine.org ~~
A toddler living near the Kumeyaay Wind facility in Campo has had a tumor the size of a potato chip bag removed from her abdomen, Boulevard Planning Group Chair revealed last night at an Activist San Diego event on energy issues last night.
Other people living near wind turbines and an electric substation in the vicinity have developed brain, stomach and kidney cancers—symptoms linked to exposure to electricity and stray voltage, as ECM has reported.
In East County, complaints of stray voltage have surfaced near electrical facilities including SDG&E substations in the Campo/Boulevard and Alpine areas, as well at homes near the Kumeyaay Wind facility in Campo operated by Infigen. Stray voltage 1,000 times above normal has been measured in homes of ill residents locally by an epidemiologist. Another recent study found an “an ongoing imminent danger” that could cause a fire and potentially, death. That study concluded that the electric fields were likely coming from the Kumeyaay wind turbines or related substation and power lines–and recommended immediate correction. Yet nothing has been done to reduce the stray voltage or protect the health of those living nearby.
Perhaps this news will jolt operators into taking action: a California woman who was repeatedly shocked in her shower due to stray voltage from a nearby substation has won a $4 million lawsuit against Southern California Edison. Similarly, in New York, a couple has filed suit contending that a utility substation has turned their home into a “house of horrors”, causing shocks when they turn on faucets or step outdoors.
The jury believed SCE was guilty of nuisance, negligence, and infliction of emotional distress in the case filed by Simona Wilson, 34, a mother of three young boys in Redondo Beach. Moreover, $3 million of the total award was made up of punitive damages, since jury members believed that the electric company was guilty of “malice, oppression, or fraud. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-57575821-71/woman-with-shocking-shower-wins-$4m-from-power-company/
In Westchester, New York, Hal and Millie Mendelson say currents from a substation run by NYSEG, the local utility, is so severe that they are on the verge of abandoning their multi-million home. The utility insists there is no stray voltage. But the Mendelsons say the voltage began leaking several years after the substation was built. They contend that they’ve been shocked n their shower, touching doorknobs and faucets.
They also blame voltage in the ground for causing their dog to chew the skin off her legs, causing such severe pain that they ultimately euthanized their pet. Other dogs and cats ran away, they report.
A consultant hired by the Mendlesons confirmed the problem and blames inadequate design, construction or maintenance of the substation. Millie Mendleson has said if something isn’t done to fix the problem, she fears, “somebody is going to die.”http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/watt_to_do_HGFnltKVBXQRTdO94XIqdO.
That fear is echoed among families in East County, where cases of cancer and other health problems continue to mount in people living near substations and wind turbines.
