To Whom it May Concern….
I have been receiving a lot of calls and e-mails, from concerned, and confused people, regarding my website, and another with a similar name.I am writing this letter, to clarify my position, and to explain why there has been a division, in the Mothers Against Wind Turbines organization.
People deserve to know the truth!
Two of the original board members, gave their resignations, verbally, two days before the April 11th, Spring Fling, fundraiser. They gave the reason, that they were no longer able, to do their jobs. I had no problem with the situation, as they had not been heavily involved, for several months, and others had been doing the work, that they would have done. Things would carry on, as usual.
Then….the night of the Spring Fling, April 11th, they took the money that we had raised, without allowing the organizers, and main contributors to the event, to even count it. They later announced, that they would be “removing” me, taking the name I had invented, to protect my son, and other children, as well as keeping the money, that we had raised, with very little help from them.
In order to protect my name, I have trademarked it, and I own the domain name, mothersagainstwindturbines.com. The other group is under the domain name, mothersagainstturbines.com. Please do not get the two confused. I am in no way affiliated with Mothers Against wind Turbines “Inc.” That is the two people that verbally resigned!
I have made the other group aware, that I have trademarked the name, and that a trademark supersedes a Corporation, but they refuse to stop using our trademarked name. When they attempted to “remove me”…there was no proper meeting, no minutes taken, no agenda, no accountability, on their part. They did not even call in a mediator, as they should have. They accused me of breaking rules, that they themselves did not follow, and there was NO accountability, for their actions…..it was disgraceful!
As many of you are aware, Susan and I hosted, and organized all of the MAWT dinners. We did this with help from our community. Now I’ve been made aware, that the other group is hosting a dinner, in Lowbanks. As I said, this is the other people, from the Lowbanks/Haldimand area. I am not involved in this event, in any way! Our group is now known as “the original Mothers Against Wind Turbines TM”. I thank you all for your continued support, and understanding! I am sorry that this has happened, but as you can see, it was not my doing! My focus is still to protect my son, and by doing so, protect all of our children!

I’m really at a loss as to why the other group couldn’t have just chosen a completely different name. To have a name so similar is just going to create an endless amount of confusion and that’s not really fair to anyone involved in this wind fight, but especially the public that wants to support our joint efforts.
People have a habit of making something that could be so simple and easy and turn it into a mountain of headaches for everyone. Too bad. We need all of our energy to fight the enemy — the wind industry — not fight amongst ourselves.
I agree totally. They have spent our hard-earned money on a “sound expert”, and other fees, for their own concerns, instead of going with children’s issues, as I always have been. Since Day 1, I have been fighting my son’s case, not only for our family, but as a precedent, to be able to help other children, who are getting no help from our government! Such a shame. I still wonder how they could have thought, that they were doing something good. Very strange! They definitely need a new name, that represents their own issues. They can’t get off of my coat-tails, I suppose. I just want everyone to hear the truth, and not have to imagine what really happened. I have not slowed down one iota. I will never be kept away, from the tasks I have taken on! Onward, and upward! There are turbines to be eliminated! 🙂
In the past few weeks I have thought about why our group was split, the website was taken, the money we had earned was taken and a director was removed without due process. Not only has this action split our community yet again, it has made us all look indecisive to the wind companies.
I wish to continue to work on the original Mothers Against Wind Turbines TM goal which is to protect the children of our community directly. I have met many other excited and committed “Wind Warriors” with this goal and I believe this is the route to take to protect my grandchildren from Industrial wind turbines which are proposed around their home.
Can you tell us how you are able to protect your grandchildren and others?. Even Tom Rankin, himself, claims that he is doing what he is doing to prevent asthma in his grandchildren.
Is there a plan for how you plan to save the children?

They said that of all the cases they have had up to now, my son’s is the only one, that fits the parameters, necessary to go to court, and have a good chance of winning. There was a professional, who wanted to come and explain that to the community, but the problems caused by the 2 other members, threw a wrench into the works. The repercussions of what they have done, are widespread! I will not let that stand in my way. My goals have never changed!
So sorry to hear this, Shellie. It seems as if there are many big egos in the anti wind movement which are so counterproductive to our fight. As you will remember WEA was forced to issue an announcement last year after early plans to work towards a global event were hijacked and then not proceeded with. The only thing we can say which is of comfort is that the original group will come back bigger and stronger than ever before
Thank you WEA….we will indeed thrive, we are not the ones who’ve behaved in a disreputable manner! These types of things never end well, for the ones who start trouble….Karma!

I am very excited that so many reputable wind turbine groups are supporting you Shellie….on this forum, Facebook, the Blog and with personal e-mails!!! This amazing response is a testimony to your hard work and dedication to the children affected by wind turbines. You are in touch with “new” friends from all over the world…sharing information for a common goal.
You are following the information set out by the World Health Organization which has determined the negative effects of noise towards children affected by asbergers, autism, asthma, bronchitis and so many other special needs. Keep your amazing energy and your enthusiasm directed towards the common goal.
