Dirty Deeds: How the ‘Green’ Energy Cult Stole the English Language

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Wind power. Pure, as the driven snow….

Following the theme of yesterday’s post, Alan Carlin is also hot on the trail of so-called ‘green’ activists and their hypocritical push for so-called ‘clean’ energy.

The Climate Alarmists’ Gross Perversion of the Word Clean
Carlin Economics & Science
Alan Carlin
20 July 2017

Climate alarmists have gone to endless efforts to gain public acceptance of their doomsday premise that the world must greatly reduce its use of fossil fuels to avoid catastrophic anthropogenic global warming.

They have fudged the surface temperature data, used meaningless climate models, argued that human emissions of carbon dioxide will warm the planet despite the strong evidence to the contrary, and so on, but their greatest perversion is of the English language.

They have branded CO2 as a pollutant and claimed that reducing it is necessary to make the world “clean.” All the alarmists…

Green Delusions: On the Origin of the Wind Power Cult

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

In 17th-century Europe, the Dark Ages were swept away by a group of characters obsessed with logic, reason and rationality – during a period later described as ‘The Enlightenment’.

Science replaced superstition; reason replaced passion; and science allowed steam power to replace the wind.

However, in a veritable blink of an eye, the world has been overrun by the irrational, driven by superstition and fuelled by emotion. Objectivity and logic have become victims to an ideology that is quite properly described in terms of a religious cult.

Like any cult, indoctrination requires perversion of language. Whether it be a religious or political cult, murdering the English language is central to advancing the aims of ‘the cause’, so defined.

As George Orwell – a bloke who was always on the lookout for abuses of our mother tongue – put it:

If thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought…

Beggar Thy Neighbour: Wind Industry Uses Subsidies to Steal Family Homes

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Former Macarthur resident, Jan Hetherington had her home stolen by AGL.

In Australia, hundreds of law-abiding rural citizens have had their valuable property rights permanently destroyed by wind power outfits – with knowing assistance from all levels of government. Jan Hetherington (above) is just one of them: AGL’s Renewable Energy Future: Driving Wind Farm Neighbours From Their Homes Without Compensation

Property values for those unfortunate enough to be situated anywhere near these things, are a mere fraction of what they would otherwise be; and even the mere mention of a proposed wind farm has rendered plenty of properties unsaleable – at any price: Potential Wind Farm Neighbour Finds Idyllic Property is Now ‘Unsaleable’ at Any Price

Some might call it “State-Sponsored Theft” …. well … that’s what STT calls it.

With the Coalition’s plan for a further 2,500 (and Labor’s plan for another 11,000) of these things to be carpeted wall-to-wall…

Germany’s ‘Transition’ Back to Coal: Renewable Energy Push Smacks Into Reality

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Germans ‘transition’ back to coal …

All lies and promises, wind and sun worshippers keep telling us that rocketing power prices and unstable grids are just minor ‘teething problems’ on our way to an inevitable ‘transition’ to a wonderful world run entirely on sunshine and breezes.

On their worldview, it’s a matter of when, not if, modern economies end up completely ditching ‘dirty’ coal-fired power plants, and otherwise wean themselves off fossil fuels, altogether.

Trouble is, in places like notionally wind powered South Australia and Germany, the so-called ‘transition’ has just smacked into reality: the only thing inevitable about it, is more chaos, triggering a run of new promises and even bigger lies.

Every time the facts trouble their fanciful narrative, the narrative shifts, yet again.

Whether it be Elon Musk’s promise of mega-batteries (a $150 million wheeze that would power SA for all of four minutes), pumped hydro…

South Australia: Sublime One Day, Ridiculous the Next – Premier Set to Squander $1.2bn on Solar-Thermal Boondoggle

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Jay Weatherill & entourage: ready to embarrass his State, yet again.

South Australians must wake each morning not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

With unemployment already the worst in the Nation and soon to rise fast – when General Motors Holden shuts the door on SA’s last motor manufacturing plant in October – the highest power prices in the world (with worse to come) and a grid on the brink of collapse, Croweaters must wonder what they did to deserve such punishment.

Some might point to the fact that they keep voting in Labor governments packed with witless and cynical lawyers who, as a class, are more adept at running worker’s compensation claims or bullying firms on behalf of the unions they worked for, than running modern economies. However, if the object is running a once modern economy into the ground, then Jay Weatherill is your man.

In another…

Appetite for Destruction: Wind Power Obsessed NSW Energy Minister Deluded & Dangerous

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Don Harwin: a man of some considerable appetites…

Spanish philosopher, George Santayana was credited with the adage that ‘Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it’. But, as pointed out by American author, William Faulkner, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”

In Australia’s so-called wind power capital, South Australia, how its self-inflicted power pricing and supply calamity came to be is a matter of history (see our post here). However, South Australians are living with that sorry aspect of their past now, and are doomed to suffer its consequences for generations to come.

With the highest power prices in the world by a comfortable margin, routine load shedding and mass blackouts, caused by routine and sudden wind power output collapses, South Australia is the place where no sensible international investor will ever bother to hang their hat again, and a place from which…

Government Mandated Theft: The Great Scottish Wind Power Racket Unwrapped

Imagine a sausage factory – the luckiest, most profitable sausage factory in the world. Its machines crank out their sausages, and lorries carry them to supermarkets. So far, so normal.

But this particular factory makes as many sausages as the management and staff choose. If they feel like taking the day off, the lorries and shelves stay empty. If they want to go a bit wild, they sometimes make so many sausages that there aren’t enough lorries to take them away. Or they carry on cranking out sausages even if the shelves are already full.

High Farce: Renewable Energy Target Sending Australia Broke

Tony Abbott’s RET, emissions policies made energy policy a farce
The Australian
Judith Sloan
12 August 2017

Tony Abbott may have seen the light on energy policy since ceasing to be prime minister. But when he had the top job, he made two fatal mistakes.

The first was to agree to the renewable energy target being renegotiated rather than ditched or paused. The second was to agree to the emissions reduction targets of 26 per cent to 28 per cent on 2005 levels by 2030 as part of our commitment to the Paris climate agreement.

What was he thinking? He may claim he acted on the basis of dodgy advice — and there was an overabundance of it at the time (and still is) — but he was warned on both matters. He decided to go with the flow. Take the decision to lower the RET from the ludicrous target…

Politics of Power: Queensland Voters Blame Subsidised Renewables for Rocketing Power Prices

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

For more than 15 years renewables rent seekers have been peddling the myth that wind and solar power are practically free, and getting cheaper all the time.

As Australian power consumers anxiously crack open the envelopes that contain power bills guaranteed to shock over the next few weeks, the crushing bottom line staring back in black-and-white at gobsmacked householders will finally put paid to that well-worn lie.

The rates set out in the graphic above began to apply from 1 July this year; those on monthly billing cycles will have just received their first bills at the new rates. In notionally wind powered South Australia, power bills will be fully 20% higher than this time last year.

But everybody across the country is facing a thumping; Queenslanders, no exception.

The wind and solar industries have, until now, taken the notion that every sentient being on the Continent is 100% behind…

South Australia’s Renewable Energy Fiasco: Wind ‘Powered’ State to Run On Diesel-Fuelled Jet Engines

Diesel-fuelled jet engines: what promises to power
SA this summer and next summer and ..

If South Australia were a novel, it would find itself a place amongst the classic tragic comedies.

For a while the bromance between its vapid Premier, Jay Weatherill and Californian carpetbagger, Elon Musk might’ve earned a place in the ‘rom/com’ category, as well.

However, now that Jay Weatherill is determined to keep the lights on this Summer and beyond using diesel fuelled jet engines – instead of powering SA with sunshine and breezes captured and stored lovingly in Musk’s mega-batteries – that romance is clearly at an end.
