New PM, Scott Morrison must slash subsidies to renewables now to tame the 40 rebel MPs who crushed wind and solar obsessed Malcolm Turnbull.

The 40 MPs who forced Turnbull to walk the plank, will do exactly the same to Morrison if he fails to arrest Australia’s out-of-control energy crisis, starting right now.

Morrison’s first task is to stop listening to his gormless Deputy, Josh Frydenberg (now Treasurer) who, as Energy Minister promoted the National Energy Guarantee – which turned into a political quagmire and, ultimately, led to Turnbull’s crushing downfall.

Morrison also needs to stop listening for the so-called energy experts and the renewable energy rent seekers who, together, hijacked the NEG and turned it into the RET on steroids.

Malcolm Turnbull’s demise resulted from his delusional claims that doubling wind and solar would slash rocketing Australian power prices.

Like the Boy Who Cried Wolf, the ex-PM’s problem didn’t result from telling a lie, he was done in by telling the same like twice.

Turnbull and his gormless Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg may have even believed their own hubris? However, a group of 10 Liberal and National MPs (soon known as the ‘rebels’) believed otherwise.

They were on pretty firm ground: they only needed to remind onlookers of the disaster that’s played out in wind and solar obsessed South Australia – the place World renowned for mass load shedding and statewide blackouts, as well as suffering the highest retail power prices, in the world.

For the modern eco-zealot green hypocrisy knows no limit. A generation back, eco-warriors would go to war over the slaughter of a few furry seals and the odd, lumbering whale destined for Japanese dinner tables, and would weep for days over the loss of a single oil-soaked cormorant or pelican.

These days, those that parade as protectors of the planet couldn’t care less about the critters that inhabit it (they reserve special contempt for their own bipedal contemporaries).

The pointless slaughter of millions and birds and bats is met with a shrug and millennial indifference. Provided, of course, that the assailant was in the process of lovingly caressing energy from nature’s other wonder fuel.

The greatest con job in history started with the idea that you can run an economy on sunshine and breezes.

Sequentially, inevitably, every myth and lie put forward by renewable energy rent seekers and their shrinking band of acolytes gets busted and exposed.

Lines like: wind power is cheaper than coal (it isn’t); the wind is always blowing somewhere (it isn’t); this wind farm will power 30,000 homes (it doesn’t and never will); and that the ‘transition’ to an all renewable energy future is simply inevitable (sure, provided it’s a transition to the Dark Ages that you’re looking for?) – sound even more nonsensical, by the day.

The example set by South Australia provides more than enough ammunition for those keen to hammer RE zealots.

It is difficult…

America truly is exceptional: while plenty of Western democracies are still piling into subsidised wind and solar, the USA is getting out.

Prior to the election of Donald J Trump, the US was on an economy wrecking trajectory, set by renewable energy rent seekers and the eco-zealots that champion their cause: numerous American states, not least Texas and California, as well as the prairies of the mid-west have been overrun with costly and chaotic subsidised wind and solar. Power prices in those states inevitably rocketed – wind and solar ‘powered’ Californians pay 40% more for power than the US average – threatening homegrown American industry and hundreds of thousands of blue-collar jobs.

Then came Donald Trump, and all that changed.

It didn’t take power punters long to work out that wind power will never amount to a meaningful power generation source.

Graphs like the one above – depicting the entire output of every wind turbine connected to Australia’s Eastern Grid (1,800 of them with a capacity of just under 5,000MW, spread across four states, NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia) – quickly gave the game away.

Challenged with the inherent unreliability and obvious intermittency of wind power, those pushing it have been reduced to chanting mantras about mega-batteries saving the day.

The way they tell it, it’s as if they simply left grid-scale battery storage off their shopping lists – like some muddle-headed shopper returning home without milk and bread – and all they needed to do was pop back to the shops to collect some.

Australia’s RE obsessed PM, Malcolm Turnbull has committed political Hara-Kiri with his brazen push to double subsidies to wind and solar.

The National Energy Guarantee is being pitched as a policy that will slash Australian retail power bills, notwithstanding that it effectively increases the current annual Renewable Energy Target (currently 33,000 GWh for wind and large-scale solar) from around 25% of electricity demand, to a figure in excess of 42%; all meant to be satisfied by wind and solar – and a few mythical mega-batteries and water pumped uphill – aka Turnbull’s ‘Snowy 2.0’.

It’s a well-worn truism that the patrician and aloof Malcolm Turnbull is hopelessly out of touch with Australians (apart from merchant bankers with million-dollar views of Sydney Harbour). However, in the last fortnight or so the embattled PM has shown that he’s also totally out of touch with…

Germany’s wind and solar experiment has failed: the so-called ‘Energiewende’ (energy transition) has turned into an insanely costly debacle.

German power prices have rocketed; blackouts and load shedding are the norm; and idyllic rural communities are now industrial wastelands (see above).

Hundreds of billions of euros have been squandered on subsidies to wind and solar, all in an effort to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions. However, that objective has failed too: CO2 emissions continue to rise.

But you wouldn’t know it from what appears in the mainstream media. Its reticence to report on what’s actually going on in Germany probably stems from the adage about success having many fathers, and failure being an orphan. Having promoted Germany as the example of how we could all ‘transition’ to an all RE future, it’s pretty hard for them to suck it up and acknowledge that they were taken for fools.
