Former PM Tony Abbott Slams Insane Cost of Unreliable Wind & Solar as Economic Suicide

Here’s the speech that sent wind and sun worshippers into melt-down.

Address to the Global Warming Policy Foundation, Westminster London
Hon. Tony Abbot MP
10 October 2017

Thank you for giving me the same platform that you’ve previously given to fellow Australians John Howard and George Pell. I will strive to be worthy of their example and their friendship; to offer a common sense way through the climate conflict; and, also, to place this particular issue in the broader search for practical wisdom now taking place across the Western world.

It would be wrong to underestimate the strengths of the contemporary West. By objective standards, people have never had better lives. Yet our phenomenal wealth and our scientific and technological achievements rest on values and principles that have rarely been more widely challenged.

To a greater or lesser extent, in most Western countries, we can’t keep our borders secure; we…

Prince Edward County Residents Standing Up for their Rights! Huge rally to protest wpd wind project and the Green Energy Act

ccsageadmin2's avatarCCSAGE Naturally Green

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PICTON, ON., October 7: Prince Edward County residents will rally together to voice their opposition to wpd Canada’s White Pines Wind Project that involves erecting nine 150m-tall (500 FT.) industrial wind turbines in and around the hamlet of Milford in the ward of South Marysburgh.

The County is an unwilling host to industrial wind turbine projects that disrupt the lives and livelihoods of County residents; that destroy the County’s historic landscapes; and that cause irreparable harm to the County’s wildlife and natural environment.

This much anticipated rally will consist of a march coupled with an information session at the Regent Theatre in Picton. “Our hope is that this rally will motivate the government to cancel this project once and for all”, says Les Stanfield, logistics coordinator for the rally. “We want people to be creative in preparing for the march through floats, banners and placards that…

Wisconsin’s Wind Industry Called to Account for Its Victim’s Wholly Unnecessary Suffering

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Where a power generation source is of a kind abandoned centuries ago, for pretty obvious reasons – namely, its proven inability to deliver power as and when it’s needed; and which exists, and only exists, by reason of mandates, subsidies, fines and targets, the harm and suffering it causes is wholly unnecessary.

Those that continue to wilfully cause that suffering can be rightfully regarded with utter contempt.

One place where the victims of that malice have turned the tables is Brown County, Wisconsin.

In this story, a number of honest brokers detail the harm caused to neighbours by exposure to incessant, turbine generated low-frequency noise and infrasound. While a wind industry stooge does his level best to blame everything, except the bubonic plague.

RET Driven Power Price Hike Bites: Cost of Australia’s Renewable Energy Madness Crushing Consumer Confidence

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Australian power consumers have just started opening their winter power bills, which are fully 20% higher than this time last year. By comparison, Australia’s underlying rate of inflation is around 1.5%.

The consequences for the economy, as a whole, are just starting to bite.

Restaurants, bars and retailers are copping it from both ends.

Business customers – often on retail power contracts with fixed prices for two or three years – are watching their power costs almost double, as they enter new contracts with prices fixed at the current rates.

And the customers who consume what these businesses hope to offer, have been forced to cut back on expenditure, simply to be in a position to pay their own rocketing power bills. Some might call it a vicious circle.

STT calls it a self-inflicted economic suicide.

Australian Summer Forecast: More Blackouts & Rocketing Power Prices

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Australia’s decade-long dalliance with sunshine and breezes is about to get really, really serious.

South Australia’s reputation as both Australia’s wind power capital and the home of the highest power prices in the world, and mass load shedding and statewide blackouts is no coincidence.

The implicit purpose behind Australia’s Federal Large-Scale Renewable Energy Target is to promote wind and solar power at the expense of the cheap and reliable stuff.

The Federal LRET has been so ‘successful’, that South Australia is now the butt of international jokes. However, this Summer will find Victorians in the same predicament.

South Australia blew up its last coal-fired power plant this year (an early victim of the LRET) and the Federal Coalition stood idly by while Victoria allowed its 1,600 MW Hazelwood plant to close earlier this year – all to cheers from lunatics like Jay Weatherill and Daniel Andrews. Predictably, the wholesale price…

The Big Steal: ‘Green’-Left Lobby GetUp! Ripping $Millions Off Gullible Power Consumers

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Oh, the irony. GetUp!, a hard-green-left lobby group, renowned for running vitriolic viral campaigns by email and social media, has just been caught out helping to rip off unwitting power consumers, to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.

GetUp! has been in the news lately over the sources of its murky financial backing, with questions being asked about wads of cash sent its way from Labor Opposition Leader, Bill Shorten prior to the last Federal election. The hundred thousand or so used to shore up Labor’s electoral prospects has paled into insignificance, compared with the $2 million GetUp! pocketed for directing gullible virtue signalers to a crowd called Powershop.

Powershop presents itself as the only electricity retailer that can supply 100% renewable power to hopeful wind and sun worshippers. And GetUp! helped pump the ruse by promising its followers that they were getting precisely that.

Problem is that…

Last Man Standing: Nuclear Plants Power Texans During Deluge – Wind Turbines Automatically Shut Down During Hurricane Harvey

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Texans have been in the news for all the wrong reasons, over the last week or so.

Hurricane Harvey belted the Texan coast with 130 mph (209 kph) winds and delivered a deluge of biblical proportions.

For some time now, Texas has been the pinup girl for American wind worshippers. With some 21,000 MW of nominal capacity spread over 40 projects, like everything in Texas, wind power is ‘big’.

Except, of course, when the weather turns nasty.

Modern industrial wind turbines do not operate when wind speeds hit around 25 m/s (90kph or 55mph) – Hurricane Harvey dished up a gale double that speed, and more.

In order to prevent their catastrophic disintegration (as seen in the video below) Texas’s turbines downed tools, en masse, (as they are deliberately designed to do) leaving the critical work of providing power to storm battered Texans to its fleet of nuclear power plants.

Renewable Target Revolt: Desperate Coalition MPs Demand New HELE Coal Plants

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

H-E-L-E spells V-O-T-E-S …

In Canberra, the politics of power has become a veritable powder keg for the patrician and aloof PM, Malcolm Turnbull. His hapless sidekick, Josh Frydenberg will go down in history as the man who, almost single-handedly, destroyed Australia’s enviable wealth and hard fought for prosperity.

As power hungry businesses have just worked out, Australia’s Large-Scale RET is a one-way ticket to oblivion. However, no amount of howling from miners like Glencore and BHP seems to work on Frydenberg, who was long ago slipped into the pockets of Australia’s renewable rent seekers.

Every utterance from Frydenberg astounds; the man’s hubris is only matched by his lack of wit.

Within the Liberal and National Coalition there is a sense of fear and dread at what voters will do to them, come the next election (they can expect a bloodbath in Queensland).

Power consumer fury is not going away…
