For those pumping the perceived merits of wind and solar power, the laws of nature can be a real bitch. Meteorology, physics, economics have all conspired against nature’s wonder fuels: the sun and wind.

The disasters that are playing out in RE superpowers like South Australia and Germany, provide the perfect ‘how not to’ examples. Unless, of course, your objective is rocketing power prices and the destruction of once stable and reliable electricity supplies?

The natural result of plugging into wind and solar power is absolute chaos. It’s like inviting the Hells Angels to your daughter’s 21^st birthday party and not expecting mayhem.

Those that kid themselves otherwise, fall into roughly 2 camps: dreamy, eco-zealots, happy to ignore everything the real world throws at them (especially facts antithetical to their narrative); and the professional kind, whose own personal financial success demands their undying loyalty to the same ideological cause.

The wind industry is hypocrisy defined: merrily wrecking the environment under the auspices of ‘saving’ it. Slaughtering millions of birds and bats (and lying about it) is all in a day’s work.

In Germany, its eco-zealots are having a harder time than usual, in their dogged efforts to cover up the inevitable environmental destruction caused by their beloveds. Ancient forests are being clear felled; rare and endangered species driven to the point of extinction.

It takes a ‘special’ kind of person to still believe that a country can run itself on sunshine and breezes.

Idolatry, zealotry, and good old-fashioned pig ignorance are worn like badges of honour amongst the wind and sun cult.

Claims range from the ‘wind is always blowing somewhere’, ‘wind power is cheaper than coal’, and ‘competitive’ with everything under the sun blah, blah, blah.

Another mantra is that, either wind power receives no subsidies at all or, if that’s grudgingly conceded, then the subsidies to wondrous wind dwarf those shoveled out to evil fossil fuels. (On the latter they struggle to come up with a shred of evidence to support their case, and ignore the fact that coal miners and gas extractors and pay very substantial sums in royalties to governments.)

It’s not just that the wind industry is destroying Ontario’s water supplies that peeves people, it’s that they continue to lie about it.

Those searching for a universally hospitable and polite group of people, need look no further than Canadians, and the industrious rural folk of Ontario, are no exception.

These are the farming communities that leave their front doors unlocked, lend their farm equipment to neighbours in need, without being asked, and otherwise rub along without so much as a grumble. They tend to take people at face value, give them the benefit of the doubt, and don’t expect to be lied to and treated with naked contempt.

Witness a little economic backwater called South Australia which – due to a maniacal obsession with sunshine and breezes – suffers the highest retail power prices in the world, routine load shedding and mass blackouts. SA is now synonymous with unhinged, ideological renewable energy zealotry.

Part of the reason for the rocketing power prices in SA, was the destruction of its reliable Port Augusta coal-fired power plant, which was dynamited last year, to squeals of delight from its deluded Premier, Jay Weatherill.

Renewables rent seekers and those that spruik for them have lately taken to running a line that coal-fired power is both unreliable and expensive. Yes, they either believe it, or they need to, because their subsidy-soaked existence depends upon it.
